Papaya Project is a sustainable boutique hotel complex of beachfront cabins and cottage set on a 2,950 feet stretch of private beach, it offers rustic accommodation with panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea. a 24-hour front desk is available. The eco-friendly cabins at Papaya Playa Project are modestly decorated, with high ceilings, a private bathroom and lots of natural light. Some have sea views or views of the tropical gardens. Papaya Playa Project organizes events every Saturday and once a month a full-moon party. All the events feature music from international DJs at its beach bar.There is also a spa specializing in Mayan Shaman therapies. Water sports and fishing are all available on the nearby beaches. 3. Mayan Monkey

You’ll love the design within the common area with string lights  all around the pool and discreet but warm lighting. The overall design is clean and minimalist, with chic touches not typical of a budget accommodation, from the yellow triangular structured on the walls in the communal area to the grand palapa roofs and swings by the bars. The private rooms are spacious with comfy queen beds , decorated with simple touches. There an excellent water pressure in the bathrooms and staff is polite and attentive.  Excellent value

4. Oostel

One of the newest additions to the family of hostels in Tulum. Want to pay hostel prices without feeling as if you were in a hostel? Oostel will give you just that. The dorms have their own private doors offering added privacy instead of the usual curtain. Good water pressure in the showers and cold water refillers outside the room are an added bonus. The beds are comfortable and WIFI fast enough. Bracelets are provided upon check in allowing you to pay for extra services as you go, making you entire experience as hassle free as possible. Have more than one pool at your disposal is also a plus, alongside the free bikes to ride to the beach/cenotes (bikes are somewhat pricey to rent in Tulum so this will help you save more cash!). Aside from the unusual check in process and one you look past it, you’ll enjoy your stay. Being able to ope your room door with a bracelet is one of the coolest features available at Oostel. Being close to the ADO bus station, if you get to Tulum late at night, you wont need need to search for your hostel in the dark. Excellent value.

5. Tubo

Have you ever slept into a tube? Experience this one-in-a-kind accommodation at Tubo Tulum. Offering rooms constructed inside a concrete tube with a/c, the unusual accommodation is something worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime. WIFI is provided within each room and absolutely privacy since each individual tube comes with its own bed. Breakfast is provided free of charge. If you don’t mind sharing the bathroom and travelling on an extreme budget, this is an option worth considering. Tents are also available in case tubes are unavailable. The courtyard is kept immaculate, and you’ll love stepping out into nature as soon as you step out of your room. Excellent option for budget travellers.

6. La Palmita

The design as you approach the main entrance is quaint with the half palapa roof and vertical wooden beams with plants cascading down the side. You’ll love the perfect location only a couple of minutes from the main road and colorful touches throughout the property. The beds are comfy and air conditioning is available in all rooms. There an excellent water pressure in the bathrooms and staff is polite and attentive.The private rooms feature a double beds and a lovely balcony covered with a palapa roof. There are white linen curtain on every bed in the dorms for added privacy. Electronic safes are available  for guests to use and store their valuables, as well as desk. The rooftop is lovely with a nice panoramic view on the grounds and comfy hammocks . You’ll appreciate the simplicity of the overall decor. Great value for money.

7. Che Tulum

Lovely hostel in Tulum, one of the very few offering a pool. This is a popular option for the budget conscious travelers, youngers crowds, or people wanting to meet like minded travelers. There are different meals and activities on a daily basis and the dormitories offer enough space for privacy which does not make you feel as if you were in a classic hostel: the single beds in each dorm feature a privacy curtain and lighting. Private rooms are also available for added privacy. You’ll love the design of the extensive pool deck with multi-color wood elements. The place is geared towards the younger crowd . You’ll love  hammocks at the back patio as well as the ability to use bikes. Travelling solo? Not a problem: the daily activities onsite foster a community feeling therefore you’ll be surprised to meet people who may become you next travel companions or lifelong friends. You’ll love the common area with the grand palapa rooftop area where you can easily lounge and rest . The bedrooms feature a full mosquito net enclosure and light palapa roof with ceiling fans. Some of the bedrooms have a loft like design with the living/dining area downstairs and the bedrooms upstairs. You’ll appreciate this tastefully designed space. Great value.
